The Silesian Center for Heart Diseases is one of the pioneering centers of cardiovascular clinical and research work in Poland. Lead by prof. Marian Zembala, MD PhD FESC, chief consultant in cardiac surgery in Poland and Chairman of the Scientific Board of the Polish Ministry of Health.
Diverse and most up-to-date clinical program means the Silesian Center for Heart Diseases is considered the leading Polish center for cardiovascular disease treatment; this is supported by over 15.000 admissions per year, over 12.000 cardiology procedures and over 2.400 open heart surgeries per year.
Along with an European leading clinical work, the Silesian Center for Heart Diseases initates and participates in many international and national cardiovascular research projects, expamples include the EU funded research in cardiac stem cell therapy, multiple projects and publications on prevention and treatment of the heart failure patients (STICH, STICHES, SICA-HF [FP7 2007-2013]), novel bioengineering research work and participation in multi-center cardiovascular disease prevention and treatment trials. 
The combination of the foremost clinical program and powerful research work make the Silesian Center for Heart Diseases a truly renowned cardiovascular institution, both in Poland and in Europe.
